The winner of the FIFA Interactive World Cup 2015 has revealed Lionel Messi didn’t want to play him on FIFA because he didn’t want to lose.

Abdulaziz Alshehri attended the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Zurich on Monday as a guest of honour as part of the prize for winning the global video game tournament in May last year.

The 25-year-old from Saudi Arabia met a number of stars at the prestigious ceremony, including Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar, the three finalists for the main award.

But Alshehri said he wasn’t able to challenge the trio to a game of FIFA.

“We couldn’t play with them,” he told Goal. “Messi didn’t want to play because he didn’t want to lose. And Neymar has a contract with a different game which is a rival to FIFA. Ronaldo, I think he doesn’t play the game. I asked him, he said ‘no I don’t’ play.”

Sounds like a good day out nonetheless!
